As you begin or continue your work on weatherizing your home, if you are a parent, your kids will be watching. And kids love to ask questions. To help answer their questions the U.S. Energy Information Administration has created a wonderful Energy Kid's Page full of activities, games and fun energy facts. For instance, did you know that 21% of the energy in the United States is used in the residential sector? Of that energy consumption, 47% is used to heat our homes.

The mission of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is to "to work with federal, state and local partners to promote the adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies and practices -- thereby helping the nation realize a stronger economy, a cleaner environment, and safer, more affordable energy services for all its citizens." The laboratory publishes evaluations of the Department of Energy's Weatherization Assistance Program online. The ORNL website also features an informative Weatherization Library.

As you eliminate the amount of air that is escaping by weatherizing your home, you are also limiting the amount of air that can come into your home from the outside.
